I have offsite refridgerated storage. I calculated that it costs me $3-$4 AUD per bottle per annum. I think I should get out and let wineries age them at $US1 p.a. plus say $1-$2 profit

I think wineries have physical and cash flow constraints also.

How much land do they have to store and can they afford to not generate sales each year?

It is a matter of treating it, like the asset that it is.

Indeed. Yes, certainly wine has its unique features but like all other commodities do.

Like you well write, its not just about wine's sake, but the services that make the wine world go uncommoditized.
